Transition Temperature
The second order transition temperature of Varlan acrylic fibre is 70~80ºC in water & around 95~105ºC in dry condition.
Melting Point
Varlan has no definite melting point. However, it decomposes before melting. A softening phase at about 220~240ºC occurs before the char point of the fibre is reached.

Moisture
Regain
Varlan has a low moisture regain, its commercial value being 1.5~2.0% under standard conditions of temperature and humidity.
Chemical Properties
Against acids, slight decrease in strength is observed at 0.5-1.0% concentration at 100ºC.
Against organic solvents, strength is unaffected at ordinary temperature.
Varlan is slightly affected by oxidizing agents.
Varlan is insoluble in general solvents but is soluble in following solvents; Dimethyl formamide, Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO), Dimethyl acetamide (DMA), Ethylene carbonate, Saturated Zinc chloride solution etc.
Resistance to Sunlight
Varlan possesses high resistance to weathering and to sunlight. Even after extended exposure, it shows a negligible deterioration in its mechanical properties without suffering the yellowing and fading typical of other fibres.
Microbial Resistance
Varlan is highly resistant to action of Moth and Mildew.
